Defying Oscar art print on a white tee by artist Louis Still Smoking. Defying Oscar is wearable art bringing attention to actress and activist Sacheen Littlefeather. Sacheen represented actor Marlon Brando at the 45th Acadamey Awards to decline the Best Actor award in 1973 so Brando could use this event as a platform to bring his own awareness of unfair treatment of Native Americans in the film industry. This was also an important time as Wounded Knee Standoff had recently occured. Sacheen's bravery is a prime example of having a voice for the indigenous people to make a difference and we honor her voice and empowerment past, present and future.

The original oil painting is sold to the Plains Indian Museum of the Buffalo Bill Center of the West but prints can be found in our art store or own your own tee!
